Highlights of discussion at May 9-10 2013 workshop on the OHA paper on Local Health Hubs for Rural and Northern Communities. Captures workshop input on OHA’s concept of health hubs defined as “A local integrated health service delivery model where most, if not all sectors of the health system are formally linked in order to improve patient access, and a single funding envelope is provided to a fund-holder organization to manage the health of the local population.” There were recommendations for substantial community engagement and equitable involvement of all partners in the development and management of any such hubs .
